Built a sales platform that helped scale an AI healthcare company
When Blackford Analysis partnered with GearedApp, their aim was to make complex medical imaging AI solutions easier to understand and adopt.
Blackford’s mission is to help healthcare providers deploy the right artificial intelligence tools at the most appropriate point in clinical workflows, supporting better decision-making and patient outcomes. Their problem domain spans hundreds of AI algorithms and regulatory requirements in a technical, data-intensive healthcare environment, where clarity, accuracy and compliance are essential to trust and adoption.
The Challenge
Blackford’s sales and engagement process relied on a deep but unwieldy database of AI solutions and related clinical, regulatory and governance data. For internal teams and for prospective hospital customers, navigating this wealth of information was difficult and fragmented, slowing procurement conversations and obscuring the value case for specific AI tools. Clinicians and procurement teams needed a clearer way to explore algorithm options against clinical requirements and compliance criteria, yet presenting this in an accessible interface without over-simplifying complex technical and governance information was a significant design and engineering challenge.
What We Did
We worked closely with Blackford’s product manager and development team from vision through delivery to build a bespoke Navigator Tool, designed to streamline access to Blackford’s extensive catalogue of AI algorithms and related data. Beginning with discovery and prioritisation, the project was broken into agile sprints that balanced UX design with logic and data structure considerations. The goal was to give Blackford’s sales teams, partners and hospital users a front-end interface that made complex product data navigable and meaningful in real-world conversations.
The resulting tool provided dynamic filtering, clear solution options based on criteria, and contextualised governance and regulatory information. As requirements emerged for use beyond internal sales teams, including external partner access, we scaled the design to support a broader audience while maintaining clarity and usability.
Transforming the Experience
With the Navigator Tool live, Blackford’s internal teams gained a practical way to match hospital needs with appropriate AI solutions, significantly reducing friction in discussions around clinical use cases, compliance and technical fit. For external hospital users and partners, the tool offered a transparent entry point into Blackford’s offering. Key information such as regulatory approvals and deployment requirements was presented clearly, giving organisations confidence that the solutions they explored were suitable for their environment.
The interface balanced simplicity with depth, enabling quick filtering for clinical needs while allowing users to drill into richer details as discussions progressed. By consolidating essential clinical and governance data into a coherent experience, the platform helped both Blackford and its partners navigate the complexity of procurement and AI evaluation with greater efficiency and confidence.

Next Steps
Looking ahead, Blackford can build on this foundation by enhancing the Navigator Tool to support additional clinical workflows, deeper analytics on solution performance, and tighter integration with backend data systems. Continued iteration with users and partners will help refine features that support evaluation, procurement and deployment processes. Future phases might also explore advanced reporting, personalised pathways for common clinical scenarios, and insights that reinforce confidence in AI adoption across diverse healthcare settings.
